Bengaluru : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 24 March 2020 announced a complete lockdown across the country for 21 days from Tuesday midnight, asserting that this is necessary for a decisive battle against the coronavirus outbreak.
In his second address to the nation on the pandemic raging across much of the world, Modi said the decision will have an economic cost but saving people’s lives is of the paramount interest to his government.
He highlighted the following points:
* Make a resolve to emerge out of this situation
* Take care of yourself and your loved ones
* One step outside can make way for coronavirus into your house
He appealed to the people with folded hands, not to go out of their homes. He pointed that,
If we won’t follow the nationwide lockdown for 21 days, we will be pushed back by 21 years.
The only way to tackle the coronavirus, is by total lockdown of the country for 21 days . He further added that
Social distancing is not only for infected but for every citizen including the prime minister. In case of negligence towards observing social distance India will have to pay heavy price. He finally thanked every Indian for making Janta curfew a success.
